Downtown YMCA renamed after donor

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The downtown branch of the YMCA is being re-named the Fercho Family YMCA. Dr. Cal Fercho is a prominent cataract surgeon. He donated money to the YMCA. He doesn't want to say how much.

The YMCA has been a big part of Fercho's life. He says there were times he couldn't afford his monthly membership, but the YMCA let him come anyway. He's says he's now paying them back.

“He says, remember all those days at the Y when I let you let in, and you didn't pay, you were there all the time. He says why don't you someday do something for the YMCA.”

Fercho also donated space in 1989 that become the YMCA on Broadway.
