(WDAY TV) - As the fall season kicks off, drivers need to be extra attentive at the wheel. October and November are the two highest months of the year for car and deer collisions.

Insurance agents say drivers should review their policy to make sure they're covered. If you have comprehensive coverage, it will cover animal collisions. It does cost more money each year, but agents say in the long run, it's worth it.

“We had over 900 claims last year and we paid out over two million. The average claim is around $2,200 per vehicle that has animal hits, so it's pretty frequent.”

Agents say drivers should be most aware at dawn and dusk.
