West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The West Fargo school board has a better idea of what people want and are thinking for a school referendum. The district is gathering opinions after a failed vote in June.

So far, West Fargo school leaders have gotten back 1,100 resident surveys. It mostly has positive feedback about the district and their plans to ask voters for more money. This morning, the school board saw the results for the first time.

They show most who responded do support another building referendum with a price tag between 40 and 65 million dollars. The referendum that failed in June had a 65 million dollar cost. 90 percent say they want class sizes kept small and the majority does believe the district is spending their money wisely, but for those who are against a future referendum, the biggest issue continues to be having two separate high schools.

The district is hoping to collect 15 hundred surveys in all. So they're asking residents to still send them in through October 19th. Paper copies of the survey are available at your child’s school. The board says they do not have a date set yet when they hope to go back to the voters with a new referendum.
