49-year old woman found dead from gunshot wound

(WDAY TV) - A Wahpeton woman says her mother was murdered, but authorities in Wilkin County tonight will only say they are investigating a shooting death. Authorities found a 49-year-old woman dead from a gunshot wound Friday morning in her home, but will say little else.

Stephanie Holding Eagle of Wahpeton said it was her mother, Lori Roberts, who was shot, but authorities wouldn't confirm that and wouldn't say if the shooting was a homicide.

Police say a 911 call came in around 8:30 this morning for a woman shot here at this home 7 miles south of Breckenridge. Officers say the woman was dead when police arrived. The Wilkin County Sheriffs Department called in the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for assistance. Police have not made any arrests.

“Cover the scene more secure we just don't have the man power or knowledge to go about a crime scene like this so we call in the B.C.A for assistance.”

The B.C.A. and Sheriffs Department remained on scene late into the evening trying to piece together this mystery. We'll continue to follow the story and bring you the latest details as they're released.
