Deacons favored to win state golf title

Wahpeton, ND (WDAY Sports) - While hockey season may be around the corner, some are still clinging to summer and those folks will be in Wahpeton the next few days for the state girls golf championship.

Shanley has dominated in recent years, winning 3 of the last four state titles. This afternoon in Wahpeton, the Deacons were getting in a last practice round before the tourney begins, and they know they're the favorites.

“I hate being the favorite, it's a lot of pressure, we feel it, we do, it feels like we are kind of expected to win and we need to go out and prove it to everyone that we can beat the east and the west.”

Minot is the defending champion.
