Riley remains top pro in walleye tourney

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Wisconsin angler Todd Riley remained the top pro after the second day of fishing in the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour Championship.

Riley's two-day catch on the Missouri River in North Dakota of 10 walleyes weighing 35 pounds, 9 ounces was more than 5 pounds above what was reeled in by Scott Steil of Richmond, Minn. Riley is from Amery, Wis.

Jimmy Cox of Bono, Ark., topped the amateur division with a two-day catch of 10 walleyes weighing 34 pounds, 3 ounces.

Pros and amateurs are randomly paired each day and fish for a combined boat weight. The field was cut to the top 10 in each division after the second day. Anglers in both divisions start from scratch on day three, and amateur competition concludes with the winner determined by the day's heaviest catch. Pros carry their weights over to day four, and the winner is determined by the heaviest accumulated weight from days three and four.

The tournament features more than 100 competitors from 16 states and Canada. It will award as much as $150,000 cash to the winning professional.
