Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's a story many of you will never forget, a Hendrum man delivering is own baby as flood waters threaten his home and then canoeing to safety. Jordan Peck's challenging journey did not stop there.
“It's exciting; it really is, to really see you can triumph through hard times.”
Tucked away in a Fargo strip mall is a dream that's carried Jordan and his family a long way over the last 9 months. This small Adventist Church is one of only three in the F-M area.
“You’re coming into an area with little or no interest and starting to preach.”
Jordan says opening the church which is on University Drive, is one of the hardest things he's ever done, but not the hardest thing he's done this year, hence how the church got it's name.
In March, just two months after moving his family of four from Michigan to Hendrum North Dakota to start the church, Jordan's new home was overcome by flood waters and his wife went into labor.
Jordan delivered his daughter Margaret, now 6-months old, himself with the help of the internet. He saw this miracle coming out of the flood, as a sign he could accomplish his next mission.
“We faced serious challenges, but we had to put those thoughts aside and say you know, we're going to press on regardless.”
“Margaret was an excellent distraction at that time.”
The Pecks say community support and faith have been their guiding light, and hope in time. Their church will overflow just like the river it was named after.
“Trialsome, tough, but one word also that comes to mind when I think of God and this whole thing is victorious.”
“Overall it's turned out to be kind of a good memory.”
The Pecks are renting a house in Hawley. They're hoping FEMA buys their house in Hendrum. The basement is ruined, and there is some damage to the main floor.
