Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Fall may have just officially started, but already, area department stores like Kohl's and Gordman's are advertising for seasonal holiday help. Other department stores aren't starting this early, but aren't worried about finding help.

Places like the mall are holding off on hiring for the holidays, but say once they do, they're expecting a good turnout. The mall's General Manager says store owners aren't too worried about finding help once the holiday season rolls around because of the current job market.

Since jobs are harder to come by these days, store owners are expecting a lot of people to be fighting for the temporary position, especially since there's always the chance for seasonal workers to be picked up full time. This isn't the first time store owners are seeing this trend.

“Last year too, I talked to a few stores and they said they had more applicants, qualified applicants than what they needed. So with the little downturn in the economy, unemployment rates a little bit higher.”

The mall is hosting a job fair here for people who are interested in seasonal work. You can come on October 21st from four to eight o'clock.
