West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - In West Fargo, they are rallying around a single mother of two battling Lou Gehrig's disease. 35-year old Tonya Foss, of Arthur was just diagnosed with ALS this summer.

She has already lost the use of her voice and ability to swallow. She has two boys, one is ten, and the other is five. Because doctors have given her less than a year to live, Tonya's friends are throwing a benefit tonight in West Fargo to raise money for a trust fund for Tony's boys.

“Her dad is a very determined and strong person so I hope she picked up on that. Having a strong will can prolong things but we know it is not easy for Tonya.”

That benefit is going on right now at the West Fargo VFW. It runs until midnight. There is a dinner and huge silent auction. Donations can also be sent to the First State Bank of Arthur or any Gate City Bank.
