HIBBING, Minn. (AP) — A 49-year-old northern Minnesota man is accused of growing a plot containing more than 1,300 marijuana plants.
Thorsten Gorham Otterness, of Side Lake, was arrested last week and charged Monday with three felony counts, including first degree possession with intent to sell marijuana.
Officers from the Boundary Waters Drug Task Force saw the marijuana during a recent flyover of the area.
Detective Dennis Benz says the marijuana plot, which was located about 20 miles north of Hibbing, is the biggest his agency has seen in northern Minnesota. The street value of the marijuana was estimated at more than $1 million.
It wasn't immediately clear if Otterness had an attorney, and a current phone listing for him could not be found.
