Fargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - RedHawks sure seem to do things the hard way. In round one of the Northern League playoffs, they lost game one at home and had to win two of three in Winnipeg to advance to the Northern League finals. But tonight as they finished a suspended game one from last night, it was déjà vu all over again, everyone a bit out of sorts picking up these suspended games.

Pick it up in the 5th, tied at four, Hawks with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Zach Penprase rips one, but right at the centerfielder to end the inning.

Move to the 6th, Gary’s Chris Carrera singles to right field. Mike Coles comes up throwing, but it's off line. Jeff Beachum scores putting Gary up 5-4 and the Railcats finish it off 6-4.

So all of a sudden, the Hawks were in must win mode in game two with the rest of the series to be played in Gary. They got off to a great start. Already up 2-0 in the first, Ruben Salazar rockets one to deep center. Rob Marconi can't quite bring it in, Mike Coles scores, Hawks up 3-0 after one.

Gary answered with 3 of its own in the next inning. Mike Massaro triples to left center, driving in two runs and we're tied at threes.

In the bottom of two, Donzell McDonald singles to right. Carlo Cota scores, RedHawks back on top 4-3, they eventually led 7-3.

Earlier today, outfielder Nic Jackson was named the Northern Leagues MVP after hitting 17 home runs and driving in 97 runs in the regular season. Joe Mathis in 2006 is the only other RedHawk to win the award.
