Tonight was a chance to take a more expedient path against the Railcats who they've met in 3 of the last 5 league finals. Hawks down 1-0 in the 2nd until Garrett Holleran uncorks the wild pitch; Carlo Cota scores, tying the game at one.
Later in the inning Jeremiah Piepkorn continues his hot hitting, singling in Justin Justice from 3rd, 2-1 RedHawks after two innings.
In the 3rd, Mike Coles lifts a towering pop fly into the rain and Gary’s Eric McNamee has all kinds of problems with it. It falls, Donzell McDonald scores, Hawks build a 4-1 lead in the 4th.
Gary rallied to make it 4-3 before rain and lightning caused the game to be suspended in the 5th inning. The game will resume at 5 o'clock tomorrow in the 5th inning with the Hawks leading 4-3. Game two will follow that completed game. It will be a full 9 innings.
