MINOT, N.D. (AP) — Lightning is believed have caused a fire in a townhouse complex in Minot. No injuries were reported.
Resident Del Rae Zimmerman said she heard what sounded like a lightning strike about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, and she saw thick, black smoke coming from the attic space in her home.
Minot firefighter Keith Miller said the damage was basically confined to Zimmerman's unit in the townhouse complex. He said firefighters kept it away from a row of apartments.
Rainfall reports from Tuesday's storm included more than 2.7 inches in the Mohall area and more than 2.5 inches in Minot. Dickinson reported an inch of rain and winds gusting to 70 mph, and the Bowman area got golf ball-size hail.
