Fargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - The Bison football team is looking for some help. Both of last year's starting receivers graduated, one of them is in an NFL camp. So now the call goes out to a couple of youngsters from Houston, the play-call that is.
It was Craig Bohl's number one question coming into fall camp; at media day, his top mystery to solve. I think first of all our wide receiver position; we just don't have a lot of experience at that position.
Notice he never said anything about talent. Gary Williams has always had the ability coaches say, but things just hadn't clicked for him in his first three years. The junior says now it's all making sense.
“Since last fall camp to spring I improved so much as a player from routes to coverages so I feel great about this year coming in.”
“When you're a guy that quick, sometimes you make a move and the DB doesn't feel it so he's having to learn what his abilities allow him to do, but the epiphany's happened the lights are on and I’m really expecting a lot of good things out of him this year.
While Williams at 5-11, 170 has the quickness, Holloway has the speed and size. The 6-1, 190 pound sophomore has coaches drooling.
“Like I said you'll be happy, with his progression he's finally starting to come into his own now there's no more how should I do this how should I do that.”
“I see his confidence level up there, his size is really helping, he’s' turning into a big threat and he's going to intimidate a lot of corners.”
They'll get their first snaps in the spotlight Thursday at Iowa State and we'll be there with live pre-game and post-game reports.
