Minn. DNR officer pleads guilty to drug charges

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) — A former conservation officer with the Department of Natural Resources has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to five years of supervised probation for felony drug possession.

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) — A former conservation officer with the Department of Natural Resources has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to five years of supervised probation for felony drug possession.

Forty-seven-year-old Brian Patrick Buria of Bigfork was arrested in February after investigators found Valium, steroids, marijuana and oxycodone in a search of his home. The DNR subsequently fired him.

Conditions of the probation include 45 days of electronic monitoring and $1,135 in fines. Buria also must undergo a chemical dependency evaluation and abstain from alcohol and controlled substances.

Buria was a 22-year veteran of the DNR when he was arrested.
