Thompson wins against Hillsboro

Call it a sneak preview, an appetizer, or maybe just a sign of things to come. In any case, it was a sight for a football fan's sore eyes, the first high school football games of the season kicking off tonight.

(WDAY Sports) - Call it a sneak preview, an appetizer, or maybe just a sign of things to come. In any case, it was a sight for a football fan's sore eyes, the first high school football games of the season kicking off tonight.

In Thompson, the Tommies hosted defending state champs Hillsboro in a nice 9-man rivalry game.

3rd quarter, its 16-7 Thompson, Hillsboro gets a big play from QB Josh Mayo. He follows his blockers around the far side and flies to the end-zone for a seventy-four yard touchdown run, but the Burros fail on the conversion so Thompson leads 16 to 14.

Then late in the third, the burros are trapped on their own 3 yard line when they fumble the snap.

Thompson's Ian Haugen recovers it in the end-zone; Tommies go in front by 10 after the conversion.
