Colfax, ND (WDAY TV) - A packed house in Colfax North Dakota tonight as neighbors packed in to weigh in on a hot topic on people's minds, health care reform. What do North Dakotans want? WDAY 6 Reporter Todd Kurtz found out and is live with our story.

Senator Byron Dorgan spent the day hosting town hall meetings in several rural areas in North Dakota. He says it was standing room only at all of his meetings today.

In Colfax tonight, the senator spoke for about 10 minutes before opening the floor and concerns of healthcare rang out. Some worried they couldn't get the care they needed for a serious condition. Others second guessed the amount of control government will have.

One person in the medical field says regardless of what's passed, people need to be more responsible. Taking care of your body and not making unnecessary trips to the E.R. Senator Dorgan assured he will not vote for a government run program.

“I like to do it obviously by the turnout tonight and the crowd they appreciate the opportunity to spend some time talking about this country, its aspirations and hopes, this is part of what America ought to be about.”

Dorgan is holding more town hall meetings tomorrow and Thursday. Tomorrow's are at 11 at the Casselton Fire Hall and at 1:15 at the Mayville Senior Citizens Center and we're sure to hear more about the hot button issue of health care.
