ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) —This year's winner of the 2010 Minnesota trout and salmon design contest is Richard Goodkind of St. Louis Park. It's the first time he's won.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says his winning entry features and autumn scene showing a brook trout feeding on mayflies in northeastern Minnesota.
The other finalists were Stephen Hamrick of Lakeville and Steven Trofka of Maple Grove.
The stamps are required of those who fish in designated trout streams or lakes or who possess trout and salmon.
While the DNR doesn't offer a prize for winning the contest, the artist retains reprint rights of the work. Limited edition prints are often sold the public.
The department sells about 95,000 of the $10 stamps each year.
