FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The foundation that owns Fargo's Urban Plains Center has received a federal disaster loan to help pay bills tied to the Under-18 World Championship hockey tournament held during the height of spring flooding.
Center general manager Lance Johnson says the Metro Sports Foundation has received a $435,800 loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The foundation applied for the loan to pay outstanding lodging, food and transportation bills tied to the tournament. Johnson said the majority of the bills would be paid by the end of the week.
USA Hockey approved continuing the event in Fargo despite the flooding, which the foundation says hurt attendance.
The foundation will pay back the loan over 12 years at 4 percent interest.
