GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A University of North Dakota hockey player accused of throwing dinnerware, a kitchen table and a lawnmower onto a street has been fined $225 and put on probation for a year.
Matt Frattin's 10-day sentence will be suspended during his probation.
The 21-year-old Frattin, an Edmonton native and Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick, was sentenced Monday by Judge Sonja Clapp after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct.
Campus police arrested Frattin and former UND player Joe Finley on July 21. An officer said they threw items from a garage that created a traffic hazard. A fleeing charge against Frattin later was dropped.
Finley, who police say gave a false name, is charged with providing false information to an officer as well as disorderly conduct. His first court appearance is scheduled Aug. 11.
UND suspended Frattin for two games, reduced his scholarship money and ordered him to get counseling.
