MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins will recognize the state's first responders at Sunday's game.
Twins spokesman Kevin Smith says all responders will be recognized but Mahnomen (mah-NOH'-min) County sheriff's Deputy Chad Peterson and his partner Deputy Chris Dewey will be highlighted. Dewey was shot and wounded in the line of duty last February.
Peterson is scheduled to throw out the first pitch when the Twins take on the Los Angeles Angels.
Almost the entire 19-person sheriff's office will be at the Twins game. Sheriff Doug Krier (kreer) is lining up deputies from neighboring counties to cover patrol shifts while members of his department are in Minneapolis.
Dewey remains hospitalized in Denver. A videotaped message from his wife, Emily, will be shown at the Metrodome.
