Warroad, Minn. (WDAY TV) - A Warroad couple is finally getting to adopt their grandson, 4 years after his mother was killed in Hawaii.
5-year-old Elijah LaDuke's adoption has finally been approved in a Honolulu courtroom. He's been staying with his grandparents, Steve and Donna LaDuke since 2006.
Their daughter, Army Specialist Felicia LaDuke was killed by her ex-boyfriend, army specialist Jeffrey White.
LaDuke was seeking child support from him at the time of her murder. White is serving a life sentence. The adoption stalled twice after white contested the termination of his parental rights.
