Erskine, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Almost 30 dogs were seized from a rural Erskine couple after authorities received complaints of the dogs not being taken care of.

Authorities say one of the dogs had to be put to sleep because it was too sick to survive. They say the remaining 28 dogs are all extremely underweight, some weigh half of what they should.

The Humane Society says it's had a steady stream of people bringing food and donating money to help the dogs.

The dogs' owners will have to file a petition and go to court to determine if they will be able to keep any of them.

"If we refer to it as a hoarding case this is probably the most number of horded animals we've gotten, if we just want to refer to it as a neglect case, its still the most number that we've come in."

The owners of the dogs will have to file a petition and go to court to determine if they will be able to keep any of them.
