FINLEY, N.D. (AP) — Jurors in Steele County have convicted a man accused of trying to kill a law enforcement officer during an April 2008 standoff in a house in Luverne.

Darin Dahl was charged with attempted murder and reckless endangerment. Court officials say the jury deliberated about two hours before finding him guilty Friday afternoon.

The 35-year-old Cooperstown man was accused of firing at officers and hitting one of them in the helmet.

Earlier, the jurors heard conflicting testimony about Dahl's mental health.

Dr. Robert Lisoto, a psychologist called by the prosecution, testified Dahl understood the consequences of his actions during the standoff. Dr. Stacey Benson, a psychologist for the defense, said Dahl had "serious distortions of reality" during the incident.
