Lisbon GM dealership closing
Lisbon, ND (WDAY TV) - A local GM dealership is the first known store in our area being forced to close as the company cuts costs. Offutt motors in Lisbon has received notice GM won't renew its contract the fall of 2010. RDO owns the dealership along with the John Deere store in town. John Deere will stay open. GM is closing stores in smaller towns like Lisbon. Officials say its unfortunate the dealership is going out of business. As of now, none of its five workers is being laid off.

SLEEPY EYE, Minn. (AP) — A courtroom clash between medicine and faith took a criminal turn, with police around the country on the lookout Wednesday for a Minnesota mother who fled with her cancer-stricken 13-year-old son rather than consent to chemotherapy.
Anti-tobacco group wants higher taxes, smoking ban
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A committee fighting tobacco use in North Dakota wants to raise tobacco taxes and ban smoking in public places and work areas. The Tobacco Prevention and Control Advisory Committee is holding meetings across the state to seek public comment. It proposes to raise the state excise tax on cigarettes from 44 cents to $2 a pack by June 2013. Taxes would go up for other tobacco products as well.
Advice from those who have experienced the great depression
(WDAY TV) - During the great depression, drought and unemployment caused a lot suffering throughout our region. But those who lived through it say problems today feel even greater. In part two of our series "The Great Depression Re-lived", WDAY 6 Reporter Kelsey Soby tells us more about five seniors who lived in the 1930's and their advice to people today.
Fargo has its 2nd community block party
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It turned into a great evening for some outdoor family fun and the Fargo Park District answered the call. It's the city's second community block party at Rheault Farm in south Fargo. Tonight's party was filled with food, fun, and games. It included a carnival and inflatable games, music and karaoke.

RedHawks fail to break losing streak
Fargo, ND (WDAY Sports) - RedHawks fans have gotten a bit spoiled over the years. The team doesn't lose much at home and losing streaks are as rare around here as spring days without wind, or hats with that much hair inside, but the Hawks took the field tonight against Winnipeg hoping to shake a 3-game slide, and the Goldeyes got off to a fast start.
Dye, White Sox slam Twins
CHICAGO (AP) — Jermaine Dye's grand slam capped a seven-run fourth inning Wednesday night, leading the Chicago White Sox to a 7-4 victory over the slumping Minnesota Twins. John Danks allowed five hits and two earned runs over 5 2-3 innings for the White Sox, who had lost five straight games before opening a homestand with two victories over the Twins. Danks (3-3), who had an 8.35 ERA in his previous four starts, won for the first time in nearly a month.
Larry Scott to retire
Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY Sports) - The MSU-Moorhead Athletic Department is about to lose of it's most popular and faithful family members. Longtime Sports Information Director Larry Scott is retiring at the end of the school year. He's been with the school for 40 years.
Orlando takes the first game in the Eastern Conference Finals
(WDAY Sports) - The NBA's Eastern Conference Finals tipped off tonight as Lebron James and the Cavaliers tried to stay unbeaten in the postseason. Under 30 seconds left, Cavs down 1, Lebron right at Dwight Howard, plus the foul, Cleveland up two.
