Fish largely uncooperative for this year's opener

(WDAY Sports) - Another Minnesota walleye opener is in the books and again this year the fish were largely uncooperative according to local bait shops.

Scott at Taylors Bait in Waubun says fishing was slow, but White Earth and Little Bemidji seemed to pick up in the evening with jigs and shiners. Sunday was a bit better than Saturday.

Kevin at Gene's Sport Shop in Perham says it wasn’t' easy in the cold water, but Ottertail and Rush did kick out a few fish in about 10 to 12 feet. Live bait and some crank baits worked, morning and early evening seemed to be the best.

And Andrew at Christopherson's Bait in Alexandria says it was a tough weekend just about everywhere, Lake Mary was about the best in 10-15 feet of water.
