GRAND FORKS - Minor injuries were reported in a two-car rollover accident on Gateway Drive Monday morning.

The accident occurred at about 6 a.m. at the intersection of North 43rd Street and Gateway Drive, near the Gateway exit of I-29, according to the Grand Forks Police Department.

According to police, Chad Litzinger, 37, Grand Forks, was driving a white Ford pickup eastbound on Gateway when a maroon Ford pickup, driven by John Hughes, 74, Grand Forks, exited I-29 to Gateway Drive.

Police said Hughes failed to yield to cross traffic on Gateway Drive. The vehicles collided and Litzinger’s vehicle rolled onto its roof and slid until it came to rest in the intersection of North 43rd Street.

While minor injuries were reported, neither driver required transport for injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Hughes was cited for failure to yield right of way at a controlled intersection.

Grand Forks police were assisted on scene by Altru Ambulance and the Grand Forks Fire Department. Anyone with additional information to offer regarding the incident is asked to contact Grand Forks Police Department at 701-787-8000.
