(WDAZ-TV) - A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper arrested in Beltrami County, MN, for drunken driving has resigned.

A urinalysis showed Grand Forks Highway Patrol Captain Kevin Robson had a blood alcohol concentration nearly twice Minnesota's legal limit at .15 percent.

Robson, 42, was on personal leave following his March 10 DUI arrest and handed in his resignation on Friday, according to Superintendent of the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Colonel James Prochniak.

A Beltrami County Sheriff's Office report says Robson denied drinking and driving when pulled over by a deputy who was called about a report of a hit-and-run accident.

The report says Robson had difficulty maintaining his balance and was defensive dealing with the arresting officers.

Robson faces a charge of fourth-degree driving while intoxicated.

A phone message left for Robson at his home seeking comment has not been returned.

Robson supervised 29 officers in a seven-county region.
