GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - A dumpster fire led to a huge mess at Lowe's in Grand Forks on Thursday morning.

Firefighters started battling the blaze just before 10 a.m.

The city-owned dumpster, leased to Lowe's, had to be completely emptied to hose down all of the compacted trash.

There was no damage to the building.

"Lowe's, to their credit, inside they have a door that they can close to keep any smoke from getting into the building. No smoke was in the building, no extension of fire into the building, just confined to the dumpster," Battalion Chief Mike Sandry said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No foul play is suspected.
