GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - The UND Student Body President has added her voice to those who want to be done with the debate over the Fighting Sioux nickname.

In an open letter to citizens of the state, Kylie Michelle Oversen writes that it is truly in the best interest of UND students to continue the transition away from the Fighting Sioux Nickname and Logo.

Oversen says UND will be at a competitive and economic disadvantage if the transition is halted, and students are affected more than anyone.

"There's been way too much time and energy spent on this. Energy that we could have been spending on improving our academic programs and improving our student services on campus and we can't focus time on that because this takes so much of that away," Oversen said.

Oversen urges everyone to move on and allow for restoration of unity at UND.
