GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - "Disney on Ice" stars spread a little of their Disney magic around Grand Forks on Thursday.

The show isn't until Friday, but performers were getting something of a work-out today surprising some very eager fans.

Jesse Hagell has been skating for 11 years, but today his role was storyteller.

Hagell says they encourage children to read because literature is a big part of life and education. Plus, it just gives them a part of Disney magic.

He created excitement about reading for more than 200 kids packed into the library for story time.

Leanne Kilzer, a regular at Thursday story time, says library administrators tried to keep the event to the people who come every week, but it seems like a lot more showed up than usual.

After the library, Mickey and Minnie moved on to their next stop: Altru's pediatric unit. They spent time with some very deserving kids.

For 3-year-old Zoe, who is suffering from cancer, it was a dream come true.

"Before we got here, she was so excited. She couldn't wait to get here. Just to see those smiles means a lot," says Zoe's mom, Tanya Schillinger.

Mickey and Minnie's Magical Journey opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. Saturday performances are at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.
