NEAR GRAFTON, ND (WDAZ-TV) - Three women were injured in a collision between a pickup and a semi south of Grafton on Monday.

Melina Nord, 36, of Grafton, Roberta Siegler, 47, of Minto, and Andrea Welsh, 15, of Grafton were injured in the crash that happened on Highway 81 four miles south of Grafton.

Nord and Siegler have been treated and released. Welsh was transferred to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. The driver of the semi, Joseph Gallagher, 35, of Hillsboro wasn't hurt.

All involved were wearing seat belts. The road was icy and wet and there was light freezing rain reported at the time.

The 2009 Freightliner semi, carrying two tractor trailers, was northbound on Highway 81. The semi jackknifed on the icy road and the truck and first trailer came to rest in the west ditch of the southbound lane.

The second trailer was partially in the southbound lane when the southbound 2005 Dodge pickup struck the trailer. Nord did not see the trailer in time to stop.

The pickup was totaled in the crash. The second trailer had minor damage and the semi and first trailer had moderate damage due to the jackknife.

Nord and Siegler were taken to Unity Hospital in Grafton, treated and released.

Investigation into the crash continues.

Assisting the Highway Patrol at the scene were the Walsh County Sheriff's Office, Valley Ambulance and Grafton Fire and Rescue.
