LAKOTA, ND (WDAZ-TV) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of six people injured in a two-vehicle accident in Lakota.
Five people were in a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina as it was hit by a 2011 International truck at the intersection of Highway 1 and 2 in Lakota just after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
43-year-old Mark Restemayer was driving the Lumina with passengers Pedro Moreira, 21, Marcelo Rodrigues Monteiro, 23, Thiago Muniz Magnani, 22, and Luis Paul Trabach Alves, 21. All five are from Devils Lake.
The driver of the truck was Curtis Olson, 45, from Grafton.
The extent of their injuries was not available as of Thursday evening.
Restemayer was heading west on Highway 2, coming from Grand Forks to Devils Lake. Olson was driving north on Highway 1.
At the intersection of the two highways, Olson was attempting to cross the westbound lane of Highway 2 and continue on Highway 1.
According to the patrol, Olson pulled out in front and struck the front of the Lumina, which was totaled. The truck had undercarriage damage.
Neither driver was able to avoid the crash. It remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
Charges against Olson are "under investigation."
Olson was not wearing a seat belt. The five people in the Lumina were.
At the time of the crash, the roadway was icy and there was snow and blowing snow.
