Suspected DUI Driver Causes Head-on Collision in South Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS (WDAZ-TV) - Police say a Grand Forks woman caused a head-on collision on 24th Ave. S. Thursday afternoon.
Rose Benson, 30, was driving a 1992 Oldsmobile west on 24th just before 4 p.m. when police say she crossed over the center line and collided with a 1995 GMC Jimmy driven by Michelle Giedd, 22, Grand Forks.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged and airbags deployed.
A passenger in Geidd's vehicle, Jon Gilbertson, 23, of Grand Forks, was injured and was transported to Altru Hospital, treated and released.
An 8-year-old child in the vehicle was uninjured.
Benson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and taken to the Grand Forks County Correctional Center. She was also charged with driving with a revoked license.
The crash is still under investigation. Assisting police at the scene was the Grand Forks Fire Department.
