THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - The Humane Society in Thief River Falls is asking for financial help so that they can keep their doors open.

Decreased donations and rising animal care expenses have dried up funds.

Humane Society Director Dawn Williamson says they are getting the word out through emails and facebook that they need money in order to continue operating.

The Humane Society is independent and a non-profit so it doesn't receive county or city dollars to help with its operations.

Williamson says that they may have to ask for some help to get them out of this money crisis.

The facilty is at maximum capacity with cats, however they still have room for dogs.

"The only problem is we have been turning them away because we don't know if we are going to be able to make them affordable," Williamson said.

The society just held a rummage sale, but like the donations, those dollars brought in were much lower than years past.

If you would like to help out the Pennington County Humane Society, you can mail your donation to P.O. box 64, Thief River Falls, MN, 56701.
