VIDEO: Fire Destroys Potato Processing Plant in Minto, NDMINTO, ND (WDAZ-TV) - The Minto Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at the Lone Wolf Farms washplant around noon Sunday.
MINTO, ND (WDAZ-TV) - A potato processing plant in Minto is considered a total loss after a fire Sunday.
The Minto Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze at the Lone Wolf Farms washplant around noon.
The Grafton Fire Department was called in to help out and after firefighters started running out of water, the Oslo Fire Department responded as well.
The fire started on the east side of the building.
The Lone Wolf Farms plant cleans and ships potatoes. The Walsh County Sheriff's Department says workers were working inside the plant today. No injuries were reported from the blaze.
The building is a total loss. The plant was scheduled to start shipping potatoes in two weeks.
"If we could have got up on top with a ladder truck or something, which we don't have, we could have probably done a little better job ," Minto Fire Chief David Gerszewski said.
Lone Wolf Farms is family owned and operated. The Lone Wolf Farms website says, "Lone Wolf Farms markets potatoes through our washplant complex in Minto, ND. We store, wash, and package our own potatoes. These potatoes are sold to supermarkets, wholesalers and other customers; throughout the United States."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
