EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - A gas station was robbed at knifepoint Thursday night in East Grand Forks.

According to Lt. Rodney Hajicek, a scalpel or sheetrock knife was used in the robbery at Ortons Tesoro gas station at 504 Rhinehart Dr. SE at about 9:18 p.m.

No one was hurt in the robbery, but the man threatened at least one employee, saying that he had a knife and would cut them, Hajicek said.

The suspect made off with some cash, but the total amount isn't known yet.

The white male suspect fled on foot in a southern direction. He was wearing a checkered shirt and a gray ski mask with only his eyes showing. He's described as about 6' and 140-150 lbs.

Officers released the scene at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday, but still had not found the suspect as of 3:30 p.m. Friday.

A K9 unit was seen with officer officers using flashlights to search the area around the gas station, which was closed for the night.

The East Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Grand Forks Police Department and the United States Border Patrol.
