Picketing Continues After American Crystal Contract Talks Break Down

EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - American Crystal Sugar workers up and down the valley continue to picket after a meeting with negotiators ended Thursday without an agreement.

EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (WDAZ-TV) - American Crystal Sugar workers up and down the valley continue to picket after a meeting with negotiators ended Thursday without an agreement.

As of Friday evening, no new meetings have been scheduled and both American Crystal Sugar and the union say they're disappointed in the way things went yesterday.

Dan Kressin, a union representative from Crookston, told WDAZ that the union met on its own Thursday morning before meeting with the company.

The company made the same offer it did on July 28, which 96 percent of union workers voted down.

Kressin says the union offered to talk about health care benefits and the language of the contract, but he feels the company had no interest in even negotiating and although vice president of administration Brian Ingulsrud did make that comment, Kressin says the union has been ready to go back to the negotiating table from day one.
