The series of events at Concordia this week, “Considering Matthew Shepard: 25 Years Later,” mark the 25th anniversary of the killing of a young gay man in Laramie, Wyo., that shook the country.
The festival brings hundreds of wood carving enthusiasts from across the country and Canada together for demonstrations, classes and a vendor show with more than 46 booths.
At one point, Brown simply turned his microphone toward the crowd and said, “y’all sing” – a superfluous prompt for the thousands who were already belting out the lyrics well before the invitation.
