Grafton, ND (WDAY TV) - New information from Grafton Police reveals the woman shot during an attempted home invasion burglary Tuesday suffered an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound while defending herself.

The victim, 48 year old Kristine Moberg would not go on camera, but says she is doing fine.

Moberg's daughter says her mother was on the phone when she saw someone trying to enter her home Wednesday morning.

She fired one gunshot at the intruder then accidentally discharged a second round, which pierced her leg.

The intruder left the scene on foot.

Police now say Moberg did not believe the suspect was armed.

Moberg was transferred to the hospital.

Police say they have a person of interest, but have not made an arrest.

Anthony Dumas/ Grafton Assistant Police Chief: "At this point we're not going to identify any information regarding him. We're still asking the public if anyone has any information or anybody witnessed anything to come forward and speak to law enforcement about it. "

Police say Molberg did not know the intruder.
