Vikings hope veteran running back Adrian Peterson can mentor rookie Jerrick McKinnon
Minneapolis, MN (WDAY TV) - Back in 2007, Adrian Peterson exploded onto the scene with the Vikings, rushing for 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns in his rookie season.
Now, the Vikings are hoping Peterson can help tutor another rookie running back.
Jerrick McKinnon has been impressing Vikings coaches in rookie camps and most recently mini-camp.
McKinnon, a 3rd round pick by Minnesota out of Georgia Southern, is fighting for that backup spot behind Peterson, and according to Peterson he's well on his way to earning it.
Adraian Peterson/Last Season: 1,266 Rush Yds, 10 TD: “He has been pretty impressive. There's not too many guys that impress me like that, especially just a rookie coming in. He's been able to do some real good things in the offense. He's picking it up well. His running style, he has great intangibles. So, that's definitely one that has impressed me.”
