Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Students cover your ears; you won't want to hear this.

Parents and adults, listen up.

A drive kicked off in the F-M community Monday, with the goal of empowering under privileged students with the tools they'll need to succeed during the upcoming school year.

Last year, United Way Cass-Clay gave nearly 5,000 students supplies. But there are more than 6,000 children in the F-M area in need.

The top 5 needs this year are backpacks, folders, markers, pencil pouches and 3-ring binders. The main drop off site for the drive is at West Acres Mall, but there are quite a few more, as the program continues to grow. The United Way attributes the growth to the community understanding and embracing the fundraiser.

It really is more than supplies. It's giving kids that confidence and that potential to succeed for themselves,” says Marketing Director of United Way of Cass Clay Kristina Hein.

The drive runs until August 1st.
