Email

Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) - The North Dakota football team is gearing up for another year of a tough Big Sky schedule, after winning just 3 games last year, they hired a new defense minded head coach, UND ranked in the bottom half of the conference in all defensive statistical categories a year ago, that's an area that has to improve for UND to be successful this season.

Baylee Carr/Sr. Defensive Back: “We looked past it after that happened last year, it's over and now we are looking ahead.  Our motto is day by day and that's what we are doing.  Just hope that coming out here and our goal is to win games, so we are going to take it practice by practice and get better and get ready for game one.”

Dayo Idow/Jr. Linebacker: “It's always nice to have a nice defense guy to coach.  Coach Schweigert was the coordinator when they were winning championships and you look at his credentials out at SIU, some of the best defenses they have ever had and so I am really excited to have his philosophy and pressure.  Pressure makes people do stupid things, I'm a scientist and I like to say pressure bursts pipes, so I really really agree with his philosophy.”
