RedHawks president to burn mortage paper after team pays off loan to city
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The F-M RedHawks have made plenty of memories at Newman Outdoor Field in the stadium's 16 year history and another one will be made Wednesday night.
The team's president plans to burn the mortgage paper for Newman Outdoor in a ceremony before the game.
The mortgage on the building was $5.2 million when it opened in 1996, and the team has now repaid the loan and want to celebrate what's become a summer hot spot for people in the Red River Valley.
Bruce Thom/RedHawks President: “It's gonna be a great night, we are gonna call it a partnership night, it's a partnership between the city and the RedHawks and all the folks at NDSU and all the people that have worked together to make this thing work and it is working. We are very excited about having it all paid off and the 5 million 200 plus dollars has been paid off. There aren't a lot of baseball stadiums that get paid off, a lot of them are under the public moneys. So we are happy, very happy tonight.”
American Association Commissioner Miles Wolff will be at the game.
