Park Rapids man faces charges after allegedly putting fist in child's mouth
Park Rapids, MN - A Benedict, Minn., surgeon is accused of attempted murder after allegedly putting his fist into a child’s mouth.
Dennis James Sullivan, 52, was arrested Tuesday in Grand Forks on an outstanding warrant.
A criminal complaint from Hubbard County said Sullivan jammed his fist, covered by a plastic glove, down a 10-year-old foster child’s throat as punishment. His wife came upon the scene and stopped him.
The complaint says the incident happened Tuesday at Sullivan’s home in Benedict.
Hubbard County Attorney Don Dearstyne said he drafted a three-count complaint including charges of second degree attempted murder, first degree assault and second degree assault, both with intent to do great bodily harm. He declined comment on the specifics of the incident that led to the charges.
He was booked into the Grand Forks County jail at 7:30 Tuesday evening and was transferred Wednesday to the Cass County jail in Fargo, being held on a fugitive from justice charge.
Extradition proceedings began Wednesday afternoon.
