2 / 2

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - We've reached the part of the summer where sports fans won't have to go too far to find something entertaining and another hot spot opens this weekend at the North Dakota Horse Park in West Fargo.

Racing gets started there Friday night, with a $15,000 stakes race on Saturday. The next three weeks will have racing at the track, which continues to try to bring in new fans.

Ryan Roshau/ND Horse Park Media Relations: “I think this year in particular you're going to see some outstanding races, what I say about that, purses are better, some stakes races are over 10,000 dollars in many of them.”

Mike Schmitz/ND Horse Park GM: “Last year we averaged 1900 fans a day, I was tickled with that we want to beat that, want to see 3000 people every day out here.”

One of the highlights in the short racing season will be the appearance of the Budweiser Clydsdales next Saturday.
