In fact, an article written for Gallup following the poll hailed the state as being “legendary” due to the amount of contentment uncovered during the June to December 2013 polling period.

The poll asked approximately 600 adults in each state to react to questions on their respective state’s economics, public affairs and environment and social climate.

North Dakotans ranked first in the nation on 17 of the 43 questions pollsters asked.

Nine of those top rankings came in the category of economics.

However, North Dakotans fell below average when asked about their confidence to find affordable housing.

The state fell below average the most on questions about the social climate.

Many felt North Dakota was not a welcoming place for minorities, immigrants or the gay and lesbian community.

Additional highlights from the poll included satisfaction with schools, courts and state officials.

I joined the WDAY 6 news team in September of 2013 as a weekend anchor and reporter. Previous to arriving in the F-M area, I worked as a broadcast journalist at the CBS affiliate (KTVQ) in Billings, Montana (sidenote: my hometown). I have worn many hats in my young broadcast career as an anchor, reporter, producer, sports producer and online producer. However, my favorite role to play is storyteller (collective: "ahh"). When not bringing you the 5 o'clock news with Robin, the Sunday 5:30 and 10 with Amy-- or reporting on WDAY 6 News at 6, I enjoy taking in or participating in sports. On the professional level, I root for Seattle teams. As a graduate of the University of Montana, I also enjoys FCS football (but forgive my allegiance). I also enjoy reading, watching movies, listening to good music and frolicking in the outdoors. I enjoy those things all the more when I can do them with my wife, Annie (a Minnesota native). If you have a story idea for me, or just want to say hello, you can send me an email!
