Moorhead, MN (WDAY TV) - Minnesota Legislators were in Moorhead today discussing issues affecting senior citizens.
The purpose of today's meeting was to find out what issues the Minnesota Legislator needs to address or continue to address going into the future.
Some of the issues brought up at today’s meeting include nutrition cuts, privacy issues concerning double rooms, and more affordable living options for seniors.
Although, Moorhead has taken steps towards better senior care there is still a lot of work to be done.
Ben Lien/ (DFL)-Moorhead: "As the baby boom population is aging, we're going to have more and more folks who are going to be relying on the long-term care, the senior care services and if we don't get a handle on it right now, it's quickly going to get ahead of us."
With the new budget funding for local nursing homes and caregivers in Moorhead increased by 5 percent.
