Minneapolis man killed in Hillsboro interstate crash

Hillsboro, ND - A Minneapolis man has been killed in a rollover accident just north of Hillsboro.

North Dakota State Highway Patrol Sgt. Greg Smith said the crash happened at about 7:42 p.m. Monday on Interstate 29 at mile marker 108, about 4 miles north of Hillsboro.

Smith said the victim was headed south in his black 2007 Chevrolet HHR along the interstate in a section that had been restricted to one lane due to construction.

Witnesses reported seeing the car passing on the shoulder at high speeds when he lost control while passing a semi, entered the west ditch, and rolled several times before coming to rest facing east on four wheels.

The driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Smith said the crash remains under investigation.
