Maris Friendship Celebration event benefits many charities
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - Women shopped, sampled food, and tasted wine Thursday night.
But it was more than a fun party - it was all in the name of Roger Maris charities.
The Maris Friendship Celebration went on for its second year at the Avalon Thursday night.
The event featured silent auction items, raffles, and summer appetizers.
Chair Tami Blanchard Llewellyn says it came about when they were looking to host a fundraising event geared towards women.
Tami Blanchard Llewell/Chair: “It's a chance for women to come out and focus on the event, for 31-years it's been male dominated, and so to have some women involved, they like to shop, and get together and tell some stories.”
Maris's wife Pat hosted the event.
The proceeds benefit the Roger Maris Cancer Center, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and Shanley High School.
